About Penny…

I design and direct a wide range of educational programmes that work — for the universities and educational organisations that commission them, the institutions that send their staff, and the students who take them.

With over 40 years in secondary and higher educatio, as well as English language teaching, I have built and led programmes for some of the world’s leading universities and government-funded mobility schemes: from pre-sessional English at Warwick University to teacher development programmes in China, Japan and Kazakhstan; from academic skills support for Indonesian government scholars to pre-doctoral bridging courses for international researchers.

I have extensive and comprehensive knowledge of Short Course Design – including specialist course design, such as Intercultural and Global Communication skills, and British Culture.

My work sits at the intersection of curriculum design, international partnership, and English for Academic Purposes. I understand what institutional clients need — clear briefs, realistic timelines, and programmes that deliver measurable outcomes and repeat business.

I work with:

  • UK and international universities commissioning bespoke short courses and summer schools
  • Government-funded mobility programmes requiring academic and professional English support
  • Language schools and pathway providers developing or reviewing their EAP curriculum
  • International partners seeking staff or faculty development in English-medium instruction

Clients and partners have included: the British Council, the University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) programme, Narxoz University (Kazakhstan), and institutions in France, Japan and China.

I hold a Senior Fellowship of Advance HE, CMALT accreditation, and a Cambridge DELTA, alongside postgraduate qualifications in Educational Leadership and TESOL. I am a member of BALEAP and IATEFL.

Based between the UK and the Canary Islands, I work with clients globally, online and in person.
